Phototherapy is a treatment method for skin diseases utilizing light rays. It operates on the principle of selective photothermolysis, where light is absorbed by a chromophore reacting to a specific wavelength, generating heat that destroys the chromophore.

Unlike lasers, which exhibit monochromatic, coherent, and collimated light, phototherapy units employ xenon lamps, providing non-monochromatic, non-coherent, and defocused light.

Controlled discharge of a wide range of wavelengths via cut-off filters enables selective photothermolysis of target chromophores like melanin, (oxy)hemoglobin, or water, without harming surrounding tissue at various skin depths.

Phototherapy, when utilizing wavelengths between 550-950nm, is particularly effective for treating vascular lesions such as venous malformations, capillary expansion, angiomas, port wine stains, and civatte poikiloderma, as it is absorbed by (oxy)hemoglobin rather than water.

Multi-cell technology utilizes a sapphire filter with a micro-sized lattice structure to effectively contain light energy within individual cells, creating a square-outline safety zone between adjacent cells. This design helps preserve intact healthy tissues within the safety zone, following a fractional concept for enhanced precision. Additionally, it ensures safe treatment for patients with tanned or dark skin.

SOLRAY offers seven different filters to accommodate various indications. Its push-in design allows for quick and effortless filter changes without requiring a full handpiece replacement. This user-friendly feature streamlines the treatment process, enhances convenience, and reduces overall procedure time.

-Safer Treatment

SOLRAY creates a square-outline safety zone between adjacent cells, following the fractional laser concept. This design generates multiple small vesicles, replicating the fractionation effect while minimizing the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) or scarring. By preventing hyperpigmentation issues such as "tiger stripes," SOLRAY ensures safe and effective treatment, even for patients with tanned or dark skin.

After 48 hours following an excessive SOLRAY treatment, it is observed that instead of a singular blister, only numerous tiny vesicles have formed. Overdose parameters was 415 nm filter, 3.5 ms & 5 ms (delay 20ms), 12 J/cm². Note that normal doses is usually 7 to 8 J/cm² only.
